Visuals
We are working on the look and feel of the initial site this week. The process of sending criteria to a designer and then going through rounds of revision toward a look and feel creates a fascinating dialogue about what "design" means to all of us.
What mutual language will our group use to define a "look" and "feel"? What common visual interests do we have? What are we all hoping to achieve visually with this first design? How well will our first visual template lend itself to quick production of a functioning website?
I have a strong interest in bold lines, complementary shapes with rich color, sophisticated typography, austerity, doing more with less and elegance.
How do my preferences relate back to this project and our mission? They don't directly, but they do shape my perception of any designs we get to look over and how I'll evaluate them. I am looking forward to more directly building a design aesthetic that directly applies to this project through the initial design exercise.
